Cellular Reproduction

DNA controls proteins; proteins make and do everything in the cell.  Passing on Traits begins with correctly passing on DNA.

  • Replication is the process of copying a DNA molecule

  • Mitosis takes all of the copies of chromosomes in the nucleus and perfectly separates them into two nuclei in order to make identical cells

  • Meiosis also perfectly sorts out chromosomes but makes cells with half of the original number of chromosomes
